hi friends,
like, i really, really want to move to oregon.
this likely wouldn't be breaking news to anyone who spends more than 5 minutes with me. i have spent hours looking up houses and calculating about 400 different hypothetical mortgages, and i've built an entire little life in my head.
i can already see oregon chey. she has a little home nestled in the suburbs of portland, filled with granny-ish things i've thrifted throughout the years. there are lace curtains in the windows, a breeze slightly blowing them around. a marshmallow fireside candle going (my fave!!!). maybe it's raining outside, maybe i'm getting ready to spend my day thrifting or driving somewhere to explore the beautiful nature of the PNW.
it's such a specific little life in my head that sometimes it's frustrating to remember that i'm not her yet.
historically, i'm not known for being very good at the waiting part of things. when i decide i want something, i want to start moving towards it immediately. i want to go all in. i want to make the plan and check the boxes and know exactly when it's happening... sadly, moving across the country as an adult with responsibilities is apparently something you have to put a little (or a lot) more effort into. rude.
but i'm starting to realize that dreaming about a future doesn't mean i have to rush myself into it. there are things that need to happen first. money to save. decisions to make. jobs and houses and moving trucks and approximately one million logistical things that don't make it onto the pinterest board.
and maybe that's okay. maybe this part counts, too.
i'm trying to be careful about viewing oregon as the cure to all ailments i have or making it feel like this is where my "real life" begins. i can't spend the next few years looking ahead to a life i want and miss the life i have. as much as it pains me to stay in texas, i've got to start romanticizing it until my dream life unfolds.
i can still make this version of my life beautiful. i can decorate this house, i can find new places here, i can have good days.
oregon doesn't have to rescue me, it can just be somewhere i really, really want to go next.
so i'll keep dreaming and working towards my goal of moving by 2028, and try to remember that just because it's not happening right now doesn't mean it isn't happening.
anything worth having takes time.
apparently.
see you lately,
chey ♡
