hi friends,
i've been having some good thrift luck lately. that said, i've been trying to get a little more intentional about the clothes i bring home. instead of buying something just because it's cute and cheap, i've been asking myself if i can actually picture it as part of an outfit. which has resulted in me making little digital outfits out of everything i thrift. (the children yearn for polyvore!!!)
so here are a few recent finds + the outfits currently living in my head while i wait for texas to become remotely dressable again. ♡
red lace + leopard
okayyyy this one might be my favorite.
i love when an outfit is technically doing too much but somehow it all makes sense together. the red top! the leopard! the little red mary janes! the headscarf!!! it's giving slightly eccentric woman you see once at a coffee shop and think about for the rest of the day.
which is generally the goal.
the denim jacket ties it all together
i really love this outfit with the bandana-print top and a simple black skirt because it feels very 90s/early 2000s... i just wanna be ok, be ok, be ok... type vibes, you know?
the skirt!!!
this skirt was one of those thrift finds where you see it on the rack and immediately start mentally
rearranging your wardrobe around it.
i want to wear it with something super simple on top, my brown docs and my colorful baggu because apparently my current philosophy is if there are already four colors happening, what's one more? :)
spooky season but make it grandma
perhaps my most important genre of clothing.
the embroidered scarecrow??? hello????
i'm picturing this with my denim shorts, frilly little socks, docs and my polka dot baggu covered in halloween charms. extremely casual. extremely cute. vaguely kindergarten teacher on halloween. i mean that as the highest compliment possible.
the easy one
sometimes i don't want to construct a Look. sometimes i want to put on two things and magically look like i tried.
i feel like this floral skirt is exactly that.
giant white top + floral skirt + little white socks + black docs + my name necklace. done. she's dressed. everyone clap.
dressing like someone's cool art teacher
the overalls were basically begging for a striped shirt.
i don't make the rules.
i love the blue and brown together, especially with the brown docs, and the little blue baggu makes the whole thing feel very “i'm spending saturday wandering around a bookstore/craft market/thrift store with absolutely nowhere else to be.”
aka my ideal lifestyle.
anyway...
there's something really satisfying about finding one little piece that somebody else didn't want anymore and realizing oh wait, i know exactly who you could be.
now all that's left is for texas to stop being texas so i can actually wear some of this.
until then, i'll be playing dress-up in canva.
see you lately,
chey ♡
